Well, it all started one Saturday morning in St. Louis, Missouri. We were trying to find out something to do on the beautiful breezy morning. We ended up deciding to go Camping for one night at Bass river Resort on the Huzzah streams. We took a break for lunch at Taco Bell then after about 45 more minutes later we took a break and headed to Walmart to get food, plates, silverware, soap. we also decided to look for a net, so we marched over to the fishing section and picked out a net. Meanwhile dad was looking at fishing poles, when he took one down from the rack it was like i couldn't believe my eyes. When we got there we took a nice refreshing swim in the stream closest to the camp site. the water was actually pretty cold, but once you got under it was warm in the water and cold out. dad tested his fishing pole even though he couldn't get the reel to work so he was dipping it in the water and moving the string around. Dad was finished and headed up to make a fire. Shortly afterward me and Ivy went to join him. we sat around for a while then when it was hot coals dad started to grill some corn, after the corn was ready he put two steaks on the grill. when the steaks were done we went over to the picnic table and fasted on the delicious meat, corn, and pineapple cups. When we were done dad went down to have another go on the fishing pole. Me and ivy decided to try and set up the tent. we got 3/4 of the way done when we forgot to put in one of the poles, by that time dad was coming back up to the camp site. He realized what we were doing wrong and helped put the last pole in. When we finally got the tent up and where we wanted it we were getting hot and decided to walk down the path a little bit a swim there. Dad brought his fishing pole of course. I was the first one to go up to my neck in water but Ivy soon joined in. Me and ivy started to float down stream a little, dad was fishing by the lily pads. we had just gotten close to the camp site when a fleet of evening canoes was heading our way. We struggled against the current to get back to dad, but by the time we got to him the canoes past. All of us were walking back and when we finally got back music was coming across the camp ground and was so loud i didn't think i could get used to it. By the time we had to do something besides sit around the fire I was used to it. the thing we did besides sitting around the fire was playing cards. We played a round of go fish before Ivy was practically begging to roast marshmallows. We played a round of old maid before ivy was going crazy. we went to the bathroom then on the way back looked for some good marshmallow roasting sticks. Back at the camp site, the fire as coals again, dad made two perfect golden brown ones i made three burnt on the top and some golden on the bottom . i also made one completely black one the got droped into the fire, Ivy also made three burnt on the top, golden brown on the bottom. The music was still going while Me and Ivy set the sleeping bags out at 7:30.After sitting around the fire for 35 more minutes we went to bed. But! We did not go to sleep! I read the 7Th Harry Potter book and Ivy wrote in her journal. When we got tired we turned off the flashlights and sat in bed till dad decided to come to bed. He got into bed just to find that he didn't have a sleeping bag! Oops! luckily he had fleece to wear and found a picnic blanket to use. At least he had a pillow! when we finally got to sleep it was easy to wake up at 7:00 in the morning. dad had already started a fire. We had a breakfast of toasted bagels, bananas, and doughnuts. Dad had another go on fishing and...... He caught one! Me and Ivy went too get our swimsuits and got ready to go down the river to swim. So................... when we got down to the stream we saw that the current was so strong, we wanted to float down but if we did we would scrape our stomachs on the bottom, plus the water was freezing! so we all took a turn on fishing with the fishing pole. after fishing, Me and Ivy decided to try and float down the river, we ended up walking down.
when we got to dad again we took another turn trying to catch fish. Me and Ivy found a snail and a little clam so we were putting the them in the bucket when dad yelled and when we turned around dad was holding a big bass! we quickly put it in the bucket it was flopping all over the place. Dad showed us a place were there was minnows a crayfish after we let the bass go. we caught crayfish and one tadpole. After 20 minutes there we had to leave. that completes my story of camping at Bass River Resort.

wow thats a long blog! HP rules!
Hi Lily,
Dad sent me your journal/blog and I think it is great. Your teacher will certainly be happy with your writing. I especially enjoyed your description of all the events of the camping trip. You made me feel like I was really with you. That's what a good writer does--creates such a perfect picture of a happening that the reader has the experience too. Great job!
Love, Grammy Val
