gorgeous redwood trees on our hike
On Wednesday my whole family (me my mom my sister and my dad) flew to California to visit my Aunt and Uncle and two cousins (Lukas and Louise) for a final vacation before school starts. The first flight took us to Phoenix, Arizona. and then we flew to Oakland, California. I was so exited for this trip for many reasons. But the main two were, 1.) Because I was so exited to see Lukas and Louise, and 2.) Because it was going to be low seventies there!!!! Yay!! it had been ninety-five most days in St. Louis and the humidity almost matched the temperature!!! I know. G-R-O-S-S. Nasty. Disgusting. So anyway... I was really exited for this trip. When we got here we decided to go on a hike in the redwood forest. It was gorgeous. There was a little (maybe not so little) ravine right next to the path so we decided to try to get down there. It was quite the adventure to get down to the ravine. First we had to slide down a steep hill with loose rocks as our footing. That was pretty hard considering we had 6 year old Louise and 2 year old Lukas with us. But we got past that. But then we had to trek through A field of poison ivy and then climb down a steep slope of regular ivy. But the view was definitely worth it. There were huge redwood trees and the Ivy that surrounded the trail almost looked fake! there was a little bit of mist hanging in the air which made for the perfect scene. It was absolutely beautiful. But the next step was figuring out which way to go to get OUT of the ravine. We finally made our way out and walked back to our car. We all piled in and gladly went home. (BTW: Thankfully none of us got poison ivy) WE had dinner and fell asleep fast. The next day we decided to head down to the city. So we walked to the BART and headed down to San Francisco. We stopped at Old Navy to buy a pair of pants for Lukas. We got some lunch and waited for Louise and my aunt (Abby) to show up. Abby was dropping off Louise from a school interview. When we had everybody together we waited in line for about 45 minutes for the cable car. We rode all the way down to Fisherman's Wharf. We walked down to Pier 39 and saw the sea lions. It was funny how they were all laying on top of each other. Today (Friday) we visted Andrea and Grace and Lucy Marshall and went hiking on another trail. It was really fun. We took tons of pictures. Thats all that has been happened so far!!! I will update you guys later!!!
